Winter Sweeps

Back 9

The Back 9 turned out to be a very close, exciting and competitive competition throughout.

Brian Telford playing off a handicap of 8 opened with a par and a birdie to take an early two point lead. However a 'ding' at Arthurs Seat enabled Victor Orr (8), Chris Cooke (3) and Trevor Galloway (10) to join Telford in the lead a point ahead of Liam Reilly (0). Over Beechers Galloway, after a bogey, par and another bogey, was leading by a point but being strongly pressed by Telford (double bogey and two pars), Orr (bogey, par, bogey), Cooke (three pars) and Reilly (par and two birdies). Telford parred the Grove and the Lowlands and finished with a bogey to win by one point from Orr (bogey, par, bogey), Cooke (who was playing steady golf with another three pars) and Galloway (bogey, double bogey, par). A very close finish for the placings with Orr taking second place with a better last two, Cooke finishing third with a better last three and Galloway fourth. Liam Reilly finished (birdie, par, birdie) and won the Gross with 22 gr/pts.

Approaching The Treasury McCart after recording a par at The Niuc followed by a bogey and another par was leading by a point from McCaughan (bogey, par, bogey) and Anderson (two pars and a bogey). Robinson (three bogeys) was another point behind. McCart birdied The Treasury, parred the Sanctuary and birdied Longlands and was joined by Robinson with a bogey, birdie and an eagle three at Longlands. Robinson came first with a better last six with McCart second. McCaughan finished with three pars a point behind in third place with a better last three.
