P.Alexander wins Meeting of the Rivers Trophy

At halfway Philip Alexander playing off twelve handicap was leading by two points from Andrew Ballentine (20). George Tumilson (19) and Andrew Lane (4) were another point behind. Kaeden Anderson (2) was a further point down. Stephen Penney (4) and Matthew Reid (3) were a further point back followed by Sean McElroy (Scr) who was three points further back. Over Beechers a new leader emerged with Ballentine after recording two pars and a birdie was leading by two points from Alexander (two pars and a double bogey) and Tumilson (three pars). Lane was another point behind with Reid a further two points back. Penney and Anderson were another point down with McElroy a further point away. Alexander finished with three pars to Win Overall by two points from Ballentine with two bogeys and a 'ding' at the last. Ballentine took the Overall Runner-up placing. Tumilson finished a point behind with three bogeys to win Division 1. Lane (two bogeys and a par) and an improving McElroy (birdie. par, birdie) finished together with McElroy with a better back nine taking second place. There was a close finish for fourth place between Penney (three pars), Reid (bogey, birdie, bogey) and Anderson (three pars). Fourth place went to Penney with a better back nine. Joshua Hill (-3) won the Gross and George Small won the Seniors.

Norman Nicholl (10) was leading by a point from Paul Hughes (10) and Rod Lennox (10) after the front 9 in Diviaion 2 Another point behind came Malachy Bellew (10) and Keith Clements (10) followed by Damien Casey (10) a furthere point back. Approaching Beechers Nicholl was one point ahead of new challenger Clements and also being hard pressed by Bellew and Hughes another point back. A further two and three points respectively behind came Lennox and Casey. Up the Grove and with two to play Bellew and Hughes, after each had recorded a par followed by a bogey at the Grove, were one point ahead of Nicholl (bogey, 'ding'). Clements also fell back after two 'dings' and was joined by Lennox (two bogeys) and were two points further behind. Casey (two bogeys) was another point away. In a close finish Bellew (bogey, par) and Hughes (par, bogey) came in together with first place going to Bellew with a better back nine. Another close finish for third place two points behind between Nicholl (bogey, 'ding') and Clements (bogey, birdie) with Clements taking third place with a better back nine. Casey (two pars) and Rod Lennox (bogey, par) finished a point behind the placings.

In Division 3 at the tenth Patrick Reid (18) was leading by one point from Michael Adams (15). Damian Gillan (15) was another point behind with Ian Stewart (17) a further point down. Crawford Logan (17) and Andrew Robinson (19) were three more points back. Through fourteen Adams ('ding' at The Fort) had taken a one point lead over Reid ('ding' at The Fort). Two points further back came Gillan ('ding' at eleven), Robinson and Stewart ('ding' at eleven) with Logan another point away. Up the Grove Adams (double bogey, bogey) was joined in the lead by Stewart (two pars) and Reid (two bogeys). Gillan (two bogeys) was two points down and Robinson (double bogey, bogey) and Logan ('ding' at Beechers, birdie) were another one and two points respectively behind. Stewart and Reid lost their chance of winning when each finished double bogey, 'ding'. Adams finished par, bogey to win by two points from Gillan (par, bogey). Third place went to Logan (bogey, birdie) another point behind. Robinson ('birdie, 'ding'), Stewart and Reid came in together and fourth place was taken by Robinson with a better back nine.

Entering the back nine in Division 4 John Bell (30) held a three point advantage over David McNeill (32). Tony Dodds (23), Brian Mitchell (25), Ian Henry (21) and Michael Burton (21) were another three, four, five and six points respectively behind. Through fourteen McNeill ('ding' at The Fort') had taken over to lead by two points from Bell ('dings' at eleven and fourteen) and Dodds ('ding' at fourteen). Mitchell was another point behind followed by Burton and Henry a further one and two points respectively back. Coming to the Lowlands McNeill (triple bogey, bogey) was still holding a two point advantage over Bell (par, 'ding'), Dodds (two pars) and Mitchell (two bogeys). Henry (par, double bogey) was a further three points down with Burton (two double bogeys) another point away. McNeill finished bogey, 'ding' to win by a point from Bell (par, 'ding'). Mitchell (bogey, 'ding') and Dodds (bogey, 'ding' were another point behind and third place went to Mitchell with a better back nine. A further point behind the places Burton (par, bogey) and Henry (two bogeys) finished together.
