The European Tour will continue to reward the local heroes of the Covid-19 pandemic when the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open takes place at Galgorm Castle Golf Club next week, as part of the Golf for Good initiative which underpins the 2020 Race to Dubai season.

Golf for Good launched in July upon the European Tour’s return to action with one key pillar focusing on rewarding the everyday heroes of the global pandemic. To nominate your hero, click HERE

The incredible prizes for the winning nominee include a pro-am place for the 2021 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open and a year’s Membership at Galgorm Castle. The runner-up, meanwhile, will receive an overnight stay at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort, including dinner and access to the luxurious Thermal Village experience.

Nominations are now open ahead of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, which will take place at Galgorm Castle for the first time in the event’s long history from September 24-27.

Applicants will be asked to submit up to 150 words describing the positive contribution their nomination has made to their community or the lives of others. Nominees must be over 18 years of age, have an official handicap and be local to the area where the tournament is taking place.

All winners will be subject to stringent safety and testing protocols set out in the Tour’s comprehensive Health Strategy, which is aligned with international Government guidance and public health guidelines.

The winners already this year have included a nurse, a postman and a youth worker, among others. The European Tour’s Golf for Good initiative aims to give back in three key areas:

▪ Supporting the Communities where the European Tour plays

▪ Rewarding the true heroes, such as front-line workers

▪ Promoting the many health benefits that golf offers

In the eight weeks since Golf for Good launched at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Lee Westwood, €872,819 has been raised for local, national and international charities.
