Lady Captain Patricia Blaney
I was honoured to be asked to be Lady Captain of Galgorm Castle Golf Club in 2023 and was delighted to accept. It’s been a busy year and I cannot believe how quickly it has flown by!
Our teams have been very successful, with Minor Cup and Intermediate teams reaching the quarter- finals and Revive Active and Junior Foursomes reaching the semi-finals. I loved attending many of the matches, both as team player and supporting Lady Captain.
Our Junior girls have also had a great year and represented Galgorm in the All-Ireland Girls Interclub Quarter Finals in Limerick in August. The Men’s and Ladies’ Clubs hosted a very successful Fundraising Quiz Night for the Juniors in the Barn in November and look forward to the next Quiz Night coming up soon.
I thoroughly enjoyed my Lady Captain’s Day on 30th June, when 61 lady members and guests competed and joined me for a wonderful evening at Galgorm Resort. The worthy winner was Sally Ann Roddy.
The final ISPS Handa World Invitational staged at Galgorm took place in August and I was proud to represent the Club both as a Volunteer and Lady Captain. Lady members were invited to participate as starters for the Competition for the first time which was great fun.
All in all, it has been a very enjoyable year and I am so grateful to all of my Sponsors for their generosity and to my Committee, the lady members and the entire Galgorm Castle team for their support and encouragement.
I wish incoming Lady Captain, Frances McKinney, every success in 2024.
