April Medal

Division 1

Throug the Front 9 Sean McCormick. playing off a handicap of three, was leading from John McCarry (8) by two shots in the Isherwood and Ellis sponsored April Medal. A further four shots behind came Bryan Logan (6) and Conor Nicholl (4). Peter McMullan (4) was another shot back with Keith Clements (4) and George Small (6) two more shots down. Approaching the Devils Elbow Nicholl and McCarry had joined McCormick in the lead with McMullan and Logan a shot behind. Clements and Small were a further two points down. At the Grove McCarry and Nicholl were joint leaders but McCormick and Logan were pushing hard to draw level a shot behind,. Clements and McMullan were another shot back with Small still in contention a further shot down. With two holes to play an exciting finish was envisaged. McCormick parred the Lowlands and birdied Shirleys Cottage to finish one shot ahead of Nicholl (bogey, par) who was joined by Logan who finished with two pars. Clements with two pars and McMullan (bogey, birdie) finished together another shot behind. McCarry (double bogey, bogey) and Small (two pars) returned a further one and two shots back respectively. The Overall Winner was Bryan Logan with a 71 Nett (BB9) and the Runner Up was John McCarry also with a 71 Nett (BB9). Conor Nicholl won Division 1 with 1 73 Nett. Second place went to Keith Clements with a 74 Nett (BB9) and George Small came third with a 74 Nett (BB6). Sean McCormick won the Seniors with a 73 Nett (BB9). Jamie Sutherland won the Gross with 67 Gross.

 

Division 2

Approaching The Fort Colin Black (10) and Darryl Robinson (11) were vying for the lead three shots clear of Adrian Adams (10). Victor Orr (12) was another four shots behnd. Through The Maple Black and Robinson were still leading by three shots from Adams with Orr three shots further b ack. Black bogeyed the Devils Elbow, parred Beechers and bogeyed the Grove to take a two shot advantage over Robinson (par, birdie, hit bogey trouble at the Grove) and Adams (bogey and two pars. Orr (three bogeys) was another four shots behind. Robinaon finished double bogey, par for a71 Nett to WIN from Adams (bogeys at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage) in second place with a 72 Nett. Third place was taken by Black (double bogey, bogey trouble at the last) for a 73 Nett and Orr completed his round with two bogeys for a 74 Nett, just outside the placings.

 

Division 3

Brian Mahany (16) and John Fitzgerald (13) were one shot in the lead from John McClintock (17) and Shaun Stewart (14) at halfway. At The Maple Mahany, Fitzgerald and Stewart were strongly involved in the lead by two shots from McClintock. Up the Grove Stewart, after birdies at Devils Elbow and Beechers and a double bogey at the Grove, had taken a one shot lead over Fitzgerald (two bogeys and a birdie). Mahany (two pars before hitting bogey trouble at the Grove) was another two shots behind followed by McClintock (ran into bogey trouble at Devils Elbow, followed by pars at Beechers and the Grove) a further two dshots back. In another very close finish Mahany bogeyed the final two holes to WIN by one shot with a 73 Nett from Fitzgerald ('two bogeys) 74 Nett and John McClintock (double bogey, par) 74 Nett. Second place went to Fitzgerald with a better back nine and McClintock third. Stewart 75 Nett finished another shot behind the placings.

 

Subsidiary Stableford

At half way Michael Simpson ('ding' at Longlands) playing off twenty four held a nine poinr advantage over James Anderson (21) ('dings' at Spences and Trout Hole) and Gareth Elliott (20) ('ding' at Walkers Home and Broadmeadows). Trevor Galloway (23) ('dings' at Lillyvale and Longlands) was another point behind. Through the Devils Elbow Simpson ('ding' at Devils Elbow) was seven points ahead of Galloway. Another point behind came Elliott and 

Anderson (;ding' at The Fort) another four points back. Simpson parred Beechers and double bogeyed the Grove and was leading by eight points from Galloway (bogey, double bogey). Elliott (double bogey, 'ding' up the Grove) was another point behind with Anderson (two bogeys) a further point behind. Simpson ran into bogey trouble over the closing two holes and finished double bogey, 'ding' for a convincing WIN with forty three points. Second place went to Trevor Galloway (double bogey, 'ding') with thirty five points and Anderson (bogey at Lowlands and a par at Shirleys Cottage) and Elliott (two bogeys) finished together a further point behind. Third place went to Anderson with a better last six.
