Fine weather with a stiff breeze at times made it an enjoyable day for the Team Classic event played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
At halfway, Team C (Ivan Alexander, Harry Cook, Philip Alexander and John McFarland) were leading by two points from Team A (Robert Graham, Andy Young, Mal Sharpe anf B.Logan). Team E (Martin Abernethy, Neville Neill, Adrian Adams and David Halliday) were another point behind followed by Team B (Gary Jackson, Jonathan Keys, David Currie and Ryan Dodds) and Team D (Joe Barr, Andy Moore, John Caulfield and Michael McAuley) at a further one and three points respectively behind. Through The Maple the Graham, Young, Sharpe and Logan quartet had a lead of three points over the I.Alexander, Cook, P.Alexander and McFarland four who were joined by Jackson, Keys, Currie and Dodds. Team E (Abernethy, Neill, Adams and Halliday) were a a further point behind with Barr, Moore, Caulfield and McAuley another two points back. At the fourteenth Teams B, C and D gained a point on Team A and on to Beechers where R.Graham, Young, Sharpe and Logan held on to their two point advantage over the teams of Jackson, Keys, Currie and Dodds and I.Alexander, Cook, P.Alexander and McFarland. Barr, Moore, Caulfield and M.McAuley were a further two points behind with Abernethy, Neill, Adams and Halliday another three points down.
Down the Lowlands Team C with two pars reduced Team A’s (par, bogey) lead to two points with Team B (par, bogey) another point away. Three points further back came Team D (par, bogey) and a renewed effort from Team E (birdie, par) to join Team D. Up the eighteenth Team A (Graham, Logan, Young and Sharpe) with two bogeys held on to win by two points from Team B (Jackson, Keys, Currie and Dodds) (par, double bogey) and Team C (I.Alexander, Cook, P.Alexander and McFarland) (two bogeys) who finished equal on points Second place went to Jackson, Keys, Currie and Dodds with a better back nine with I.Alexander, Cook, P.Alexander and McFarland in third place. Two points further away came team Barr, Moore, Caulfield and McAuley and Team Abernethy, Neill, Adams and Halliday.
