The Country Garage BMW sponsored Stableford played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club was won by Philip Smyth.
At halfway Matthew Harkness (10) was a point ahead of Philip Smyth (11). JJ McAnally (4), Jordan Hood (-2), Graham Murray (20) and Michael Reid (-3) were a further 0ne, two, three and four points respectively behind. After four pars Smyth had taken the lead and was two points ahead of Harkness through The Maple. Murray was another point behind followed by McAnally and Hood a further one and two points respectively behind. Reid was three more points down. Smyth (three pars) continued to lead at the Grove with Murray (three pars) two points behind. A further four points back came McAnally (three pars). Hood (double bogey, birdie, par) and Harkness (‘ding’, bogey, double bogey) were another two points back. Reid (par, birdie, par) was closing and was only another point behind. Smyth with two pars came in to Win Overall by a comfortable four points from G.Murray (bogey, double bogey) in the Overall Runner-up position. McAnally (par, birdie) was a further two points behind and won Division 1. Hood (two birdies) finished in second place a point behind but won the Gross. Reid (par, birdie) and Harkness (bogey, par) finished together another two points back with second place going to M.Reid with a better back nine and Harkness in third place.
In Division 2 at the turn Conor McAuley (15) held a two point advantage over Simon Finlay (14) with Michael McAuley (11) another point away. Stephen Sexton (13) and Brian Mahany ((13) were a further point behind. Approaching the fourteenth tee C.McAuley was still leading by a point from new challenger M.McAuley. Sexton and Finlay were another point behind with Mahany a further three points down. Coming to the Lowlands C.McAuley (par and two bogeys) was still ahead by two points from Sexton (bogey, par, bogey), Finlay (two bogeys and a par) and an improving Mahany (par, birdie, par). M.McAuley (par, double bogey, bogey) was another point back. In a very close finish C.McAuley (bogey, ‘ding’) was joined by Sexton (bogey, par) a point ahead of Finlay (par, ‘ding’), M.McAuley (bogey, par) and Mahany (two bogeys). First place went to Sexton with a better back nine with C.McAuley in second place. With a better back nine Mahany took third place and M.McAuley won the Seniors.
After the front nine in Division 3 Gordon Allen (16) and Joe Barr (18) were leading by two points from Owen Elliot (17) and Philip Magill (17). Through thirteen Elliot was leading by two points from Allen and Magill (‘ding’ at The Maple). Approaching the Lowlands Allen (par, bogey, birdie) was the new leader by a point from Elliot (three bogeys). Magill (bogey, par, bogey) was another point behind with Barr (bogey, ‘ding’, par) a further point down. In an exciting finish Allen with a bogey and double bogey held on to win by one point from Elliot (par, double bogey), Magill (two bogeys) and Barr (par, bogey). Second place went to Elliot with a better back six and Magill took third place with a better back nine.
In Division 4 entering the back nine John McFarland (20) was the clear leader by three points from Bill Hawthorne (27), Aidan Donnelly (20) and Mark Connaughty (20) with Bill McKigney (24) a further five points back. Through twelve McFarland, Donnelly and Connaughty were vying for the lead a point ahead of Hawthorne with McKigney four points away. Over Beechers Connaughty after two pars and a double bogey was leading by a point from McFarland (par, double bogey, bogey). Donnelly (bogey, ‘ding’, par) and Hawthorne (double bogey and two bogeys) were another point behind with McKigney (double bogey, par, double bogey) four further points down. Hawthorne came home double bogey, par, double bogey to win by one point from McFarland (two bogeys and a double bogey) in second place. A further point back came Connaughty (double bogey, ‘ding’, bogey), Donnelly (‘ding’, par, bogey) and McKigney with a late rally (bogey and two pars). Third place went to McKigney with a better back nine.
