There was a good turnout for Sally’s Florist Golden Jubilee sponsored Stableford which was played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
At halfway twelve handicapper Darryl Robinson had a one point advantage over Colin Thompson (19) and Adam Martin (17) followed by Brian Sims (19) a further point behind. Keith Dinsmore (18) was another point away with Lewis Surgenor (13), Mark Hayes (16) and John Davidson (17) in close attendance. Through The Maple Robinson was joined by Thompson in the lead by three points from Martin and Surgenor. A further point behind came Dinsmore and Sims who were a point ahead of Hayes and Davidson. Approaching the Lowlands Robinson had moved intoa two point lead. Thompson (‘ding’ at fourteen), Surgenor and Martin were at two, three and four points respectively behind. A further point down came Dinsmore and Sims with Davidson another point away. Hayes was a further point down. Robinson finished double bogey, birdie to win Overall by two points from Surgenor (two bogeys) and Thompson (two bogeys) who finished together. The Overall Runner-Up placing went to Surgenor with a better back nine. Thompson won Division 3 by one point from Martin (par, double bogey) who finished a point ahead of Dinsmore (two bogeys), Sims (two bogeys), Davidson (bogey, par) and Hayes (two pars) who finished level. Third place went to Hayes with a better back six.
In Division 1 after the front nine Ryan Addley (8) was one point ahead of Joel McNeilly (6) and Paul Houston (5) who in turn were two points clear of Mark Dunlop (5) and Michael Brown (10). Through The Maple Houston after an eagle and three pars had moved up to lead by one point from Addley and McNeilly with Dunlop and Brown a further two points behind. Houston hit bogey trouble and was joined in the lead up the Grove by Addley and an improved Brown. McNeilly (‘ding’ at Beechers) was a point behind followed by Dunlop another point behind. In a very close finish Addley (two pars), Brown (two pars) and Dunlop who came late on the scene with two birdies finished together and with a better back six Dunlop came first with Brown (better back nine) second and Addley (two pars) third. A point behind came Paul Houston (par, bogey) and McNeilly (two pars).
In Division 2 entering the back nine Raymond Ardis (12) and Andy M oore (14) were vying for the lead three points ahead of Terence Martin (15) and Robert Graham (13) followed by Alan Knox (14) a further point behind. Graham’s game picked up and through thirteen he was one point ahead of Martin and Moore with Ardis and Knox one and two points respectively further behind. Approaching the Lowlands Graham was still leading by one point but from new challenger Ardis who was one point ahead of Martin and Knox with Moore another point down. In a close finish with only one point separating the five players Ardis came home bogey, par to win by one point from Graham (double bogey, bogey), Martin (par, double bogey), Knox (bogey, par) and Moore (two pars) who all finished together. Second place was taken by Knox with a better back nine and with a better back six third place went to Martin.
In Division 4 setting out on the inward half Cyril Reid (28) was being pressed for the lead by Robin Deane (21) a point behind. James Rea (28) and Tony Dodds (21) were another point behind followed by Hugh Mussen (25) a further three points down. Through The Maple Reid (‘ding’ at twelve) was still leading by one point from Deane. Dodds (‘ding’ at Beechers) and Rea (‘ding’ at Beechers) were another one and two points respectively further behind with Mussen another two points down. Deane overtook Reid over the closing two holes to win by one point with Rea third another point behind. Dodds and Mussen were one further point away.
Steven Penney (1) won the Gross with thirty five points and the Seniors was won by Trevor Dawson (16) with thirty eight points.
