Garry Robinson wins Division 2
The Order of Merit Stableford Competition sponsored by Robinson’s NISA Extra was played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club with temporary greens in play due to overnight frost.
In Division 1 at The Maple Gary Jackson, playing off a reduced handicap of five, was leading by one point from Philip Galloway (6) and Mark Hamilton (5). David Currie(6) was two points further back followed by Paul Campbell (5) and Lyle Foster (6) another point behind. A new leader emerged up the Grove. Galloway with a run of three pars was leading by two points from Jackson (bogey, par, bogey) and Hamilton (two pars and a bogey). Currie (par, bogey, par), Campbell (two pars and a birdie) and Foster (three pars) were a further point behinhd. Hamilton finished strongly when he came home par, birdie to draw level with Galloway (bogey, par) but with a better last six Galloway held on to win with Hamilton in second place. Jackson (two pars) came third a point behind. A further point behind, Currie ((two pars), Foster (two pars) and Campbell (bogey, birdie) finished together. Jordan Hood (-2) won the Gross.
Approaching the fourteenth tee Garry Robinson (9) and Timothy D’Arcy (7) were vying for the lead in Division 2; two points ahead of James McClintock (7) and Keith Dinsmore (9). Andrew Robinson (9) was another point behind. Garry Robinson, after a further two pars and a birdie had taken a one point lead over D’Arcy (bogey, birdie, par) who was a further two points clear of McClintock (three pars) and Dinsmore (three pars). Andrew Robinson (birdie, bogey, par) was another point away. Garry Robinson finished bogey, par to win by three points from McClintock (two pars), D’Arcy (two bogeys) and Dinsmore (bogey, par) with Andrewn Robinson (bogey, par) another point down. Second place went to McClintock (better last six) and Dinsmore (better last six) came third. D’Arcy won the Seniors.
After The Maple in Division 3 Andrew McWilliams (18), Brian Sims (10) and Malcolm Sharpe (11) were in a threeway tie for the lead, a point ahead of Aidan Donnelly (10). A further point behind came William Moore (9) and John Fitzgerald (10). McWilliams (bogey, par, double bogey) was leading by one point from Moore (two pars and a birdie) up the Grove. Sims (bogey, par, bogey), Fitzgerald (bogey and two pars), Sharpe (par and two double bogeys) and Donnelly (two bogeys and a double bogey) were another one, two three and four points respectively further behind. Moore completed his round with a double bogey and a par to win by one point from Fitzgerald (par, bogey) and McWilliams who ran into bogey trouble. Second place went to Fitzgerald with a better last six with McWilliams third. Donnelly (two pars), Sims (bogey, double bogey) and Sharpe (bogey, par) finished another point behind.

Through the Niuc William McKigney (11) and Norman Nicholl (5) were joint leaders a point ahead of Jim Millar (9) and Philip Alexander (5). Down Broadmeadows McKigney after a bogey and a par was leading by a point from Nicholl (par, bogey), Millar (two pars) and Alexander (two pars). A close finish was envisaged with three to play. McKigney did enough with two pars and a bogey to hold on to win by one point from Nicholl (two pars and a birdie) and Millar (par, bogey, par) with Nicholl taking second place with a better last two and Millar in third. P.Alexander (par,bogey, birdie) was another point behind.
