Jordan Hood wins Division 1
This was the final week of the Robinson’s NISA Extra sponsored Stableford Competition played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club. The competition was enjoyable (weather excepted at times) and competitive throughout the winter.
There were some very close and exciting finishes to some of the divisions.
In Division 1 Shane McQuillan (1) and Kurtis McCartney (3) were setting the early pace and approaching The Maple they were vying for the lead two points ahead of Jordan Hood (-1) with Paul Banks (4) a further point behind. Over Beechers McCartney, after a run of two bogeys and a birdie, was leading by a point from McQuillan (two pars and a bogey), Hood (two pars and a birdie) and Banks (two pars and a birdie). Hood birdied the Grove to join McCartney (par) in the lead by a point from McQuillan (par) and Banks (bogey). The scores remained the same down the Lowlands with one to play. In a very close and exciting finish McCartney (par), Hood (par) and McQuillan with a birdie came in together a point ahead of Banks (par). First place went to Hood with a better last six and McQuillan finished second with a better last three with McCartney in third place.
Jamie Sutherland (-1) won the Gross.
Through The Maple in Division 2 Aaron Steele (6) held a slender one point advantage over Keith Dinsmore (5). Jamie Smith (6) was another point behind followed by Taylor McWilliams (7) and David Martin (6) a further point down. Approaching the Lowlands Dinsmore after three pars emerged as the new leader by a point over Steele (three bogeys). Smith (bogey, par, bogey) and McWilliams (par and two bogeys) were another point behind followed by Martin (bogey, par, bogey) a further point back. Dinsmore finished with two pars to win by two points from Smith (two pars). Steele (par, bogey), McWilliams (double bogey, birdie) and Martin (two pars) finished together a further point behind and with a better last six third place went to T.McWilliams.
Approaching the Devils Elbow in Division 3 Daniel McIlroy (10) held a comfortable three point advantage over Harrtis Fleming (8), Andrew Ferguson (12) and Roy McDowell (10). L.Darragh (9), Malcolm Sharpe (9) and Eric Boyce (12) were a further two points behind. Up the Grove after a bogey and two pars Fleming was the new leader by a point from McDowell (two bogeys and a par) and McIlroy (double bogey, par, ‘ding’). Ferguson (par, ‘ding’, bogey), Darragh (bogey, par, bogey) and Boyce (par, double bogey, par) were another two points behind with Sharpe (three bogeys) a further point down. With a bogey, par finish Fleming held on to win by one point from McIlroy (par, bogey) with Ferguson (par, bogey) another point behind taking third place. A further point behind the placings Darragh (bogey, par), Sharpe (birdie, bogey), McDowell (bogey, double bogey) and Boyce (two bogeys) finished together. Boyce won the Seniors.

Andrew Ferguson (23) 19 pts – Gross – Jamie Sutherland (-1) 18gr/pts – Seniors – Eric Boyce (23) 18 pts (BL6).
Twos – There was only one recorded by C.McAuley.
Through The Niuc Ronnie Gilchrist (7) and James Taylor (3) were leading by a point from John McFarland (8). Vincent Miskelly (1) was a further two points behind. McFarland, after a par, birdie and a ‘ding’, drew level with Gilchrist (double bogey and two pars) in the lead by one point from Taylor (two bogeys and a par). Miskelly (birdie and two pars) was another point behind. In a close finish Gilchrist (bogey, par) and McFarland (bogey, par) finished together with first place going to McFarland with a better last six. Two points behind Taylor (double bogey, birdie) and Miskelly (par, birdie) finished together with third place going to Miskelly with a better last six.
