The Stephens Catering Equipment sponsored Stableford was played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
At halfway Andrew Robinson (19) was leading by one point from Scott Johnston (9) and Joel McNeilly (5). Jamie Sutherland (-1) was another point behind with Michael Barr (17) a further four points down. Through The Maple Robinson was leading by two points from McNeilly. Another point behind came Johnston and Sutherland with Barr a further two points behind. Over Beechers Robinson, after a double bogey and a par, was three points clear of McNeilly (par, bogey), Johnston (two pars) and Sutherland (two pars). Barr (bogey, par) was a further two points in arrears. Robinson came home bogey, bogey, bogey to Win Overall by two points; but what a finish for the Overall Runner-up placing with four players finishing together. They were McNeilly (bogey, par, birdie), Johnston (bogey and two pars), Sutherland (bogey, par, eagle three) and an improved Barr ( three pars). The Overall Runner-up placing went to Barr with a better back nine. Sutherland (better back nine) won Division 1 with Johnston second (better back six). The Gross was won by Joshua Hill (-2) and the Seniors by Trevor Fleming (7).
In Division 2 at the turn John McCarry (11) and Philip Alexander (12) were three points ahead of Gary Jackson (10). David Keys (11) was another three points behind. Approaching The Maple McCarry (‘ding’ at twelve) and Alexander had increased their lead to four points over Jackson with Keys (‘ding’ at eleven) a further two points away. At Beechers McCarry after a ‘ding’ at The Maple followed by a bogey and a par was leading by one point from Alexander (bogey, ‘ding’ and a double bogey). Jackson (bogey and two pars) was another point behind with Keys (bogey and two pars) improving, was a further point behind. In a close finish McCarry with a par and two bogeys held on to win by one point from Philip Alexander (par and two bogeys). D.Keys (two bogeys and a par) and Jackson (par, double bogey and a bogey) finished a furthyer two points behind.
Richard Lennox (18) was setting the pace in Division 3 and after the front nine he had a three point advantage over Keith Dinsmore (18). Gerard Lynn (18) was another point bhind with Gordon Allen (16) a further three points away. At The Maple Lennox was leading comfortably by seven points from Dinsmore (‘dings’ at ten and twelve), Lynn (‘ding’ at eleven) and Allen. Up the Grove Lennox after two bogeys and a ‘ding’ at the Grove saw his lead reduced to three points by an improving Lynn (par, bogey, par). Dinsmore (three bogeys) was another two points behind followed by Allen (par and two double bogeys) another point down. Richard Lennox came home bogey, bogey to win by three points from Lynn (‘ding’, birdie) in second place. Dinsmore (par, bogey) was another point behind and Allen (par, bogey) a further point back.
In Division 4 entering the back nine Finlay Robinson (21) was leading by ten points from John McFarland (20) with Cyril Reid (26) another two points behind. Through The Maple Robinson with ‘dings’ at eleven and thirteen had his lead reduced to five points by McFarland. Reid was another three points away. Robinson with two bogeys was still five points ahead of McFarland (two bogeys) at Beechers. Reid (two bogeys) was still another three points back. Robinson, who was having ‘ding’ trouble on the back nine finished ‘ding’, par, ‘ding’ to win by two points from McFarland (three bogeys) in second place with Reid a further four points down.
