McNeill takes Division 3
Play continued in the Robinson’s Nisa Extra sponsored Order of Merit Stableford Competition at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
Division 1 opened briskly and after The Niuc Scott Johnston , George Kernohan and Jamie Sutherland were vying for the lead two points ahead of Willie Park, David Keys and Peter Daly. Kernohan was leading through Broadmeadows after two pars by a point from Johnston (par, bogey). Park (two pars) and Sutherland (two pars) were another point behind followed by Keys (par, bogey) and Daly (par, bogey) a further point down. Johnston parred the Treasury and joined Kernohan (bogey) with Park (bogey), Sutherland (par), Keys (par) and Daly (par) all equal two points behind. Johnston the next and parred Longlands to win by three points from Park (par, birdie) in second place. Kernohan (two bogeys), David Keys (two pars), Daley (bogey, birdie) and Sutherland (par, birdie) all finished together a further point behind. Sutherland won the Gross.
In Division 2 approaching The Niuc, Mark Fry after opening with a bogey and two pars and Keith Dinsmore (bogey, par, birdie) were leading by three points from Philip Magill who took a ‘ding’ at the opening hole followed by two birdies. Through Broadmeadows Magill emerged as the new leader after a good run of par, birdie, par. A point behind came Fry (double bogey and two bogeys) and Dinsmore (‘ding’, par, par). Fry parred the next to take a one point advantage over Magill (bogey) with Dinsmore (bogey) another point behind. Fry extended his lead to two points with a bogey at the Sanctuary over Magill (bogey) who was joined by Dinsmore with a par. Magill birdied Longlands and joined Fry (bogey at the finish with Dinsmore (par) a point behind. With a better back six Magill took first place with second place going to Fry.
Through The Maple in Division 3 Aidan McNeill after a ‘ding’ at the third and David Brown were vying for the lead two points ahead of David Miller. McNeill held a one shot advantage overe Beechers after a bogey and a par to two pars fromBrown who was joined by an improving Miller with a par and a birdie. Positions changed up the Grove with Brown (par)taking over the lead by a point from McNeill (double bogey) and Miller (bogey). However positions changed again down the Lowlands with McNeill (birdie) and Miller (birdie) a point ahead of Brown. An exciting finish was in prospect up the last. A birdie by McNeill saw him home to win by one point from Miller (par) and Brown (birdie) and with a better back six second place went to Miller.

Division 2 – 1st. Philip Magill 23 pts (BB6) – 2nd. Mark Fry 23 pts
Division 3 – 1st. Aidan McNeill 23 pts – 2nd. David Miller 22 pts (BB6)
