Cull edges Division 1
In Division 1 of Robinson’s NISA Extra sponsored Order of Merit stableford competition at Galgorm Castle Golf Club James Taylor held a one point advantage through The Maple over Billy Cull and Shane McQuillan. Rod Lennox was a further two points behind followed by Tony Carroll another point down. Taylor opened with an eagle three at the Fort followed by a birdie. The lead changed over Beechers with McQuillan, after a par and a birdie, taking over to lead by a point from Taylor (bogey, par) and Cull (two pars). Lennox (two pars) and Carroll (par, birdie) were another two points behind. McQuillan came home par, par, birdie and was joined by Cull (par, par, birdie) at the finish and with a better back three first place went to Cull with McQuillan in second place. Two points behind came Carroll (three pars), Rod Lennox (three pars) and Taylor (par, double bogey. Birdie).
Jonathan McNeill won the Gross.
Malcolm Sharpe opened with a birdie and three pars in Division 2 to lead by four points from Aidan Donnelly (par, two bogeys, par) and James Campbell (par, bogey, double bogey, bogey). Simon Finlay (par, two bogeys, par) was a further point behind with Mark Connaughty (par, double bogey and two bogeys) another point back. Through Beechers Sharpe’s lead had been cut to two points by Campbell with the help of two pars. Finlay and Connaughty were a further point behind with Donnelly another point down. Sharpe finished with two bogeya and a par to win by two points from Connaughty (par, bogey, birdie) in second place. Finlay (bogey and two pars), Donnelly (bogey and two pars) and Campbell (three bogeys) were a further point behind.
Over The Niuc in Division 3 William McKigney with a double bogey, par, bogey, birdie opening was leading by one point from Michael McAuley (bogey, par, birdie, par). Kevin Devlin (bogey, par, bogey, bogey) and Michael Montgomery (two bogeys, par, bogey) were were a further one and two points respectively behind. Through Broadmeadows McKigney had increased his lead to three points over McAuley, Devlin and Montgomery. In a close finish Devlin improved over the closing three holes with a bogey, par and a birdie to win by one point from McKigney who hit bogey trouble over the closing holes to finish bogey, double bogey, bogey, McAuley (par, birdie, par) and Montgomery (birdie, par, bogey). Second place went to M.Montgomery with a better last six. McAuley won the Alt 9 Gross.
