Division win for Gary Henry
There was a good turn-out of golfers for Robinson’s NISA Extra sponsored Order of Merit Stableford competition at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
The early starters had to contend with cloudy overhead skies and a cold ‘nip’ in the air which improved as the day progressed with the sun forcing it’s way through the clouds.
Through The Maple in Division 1 Gary Henry and David Henry were vying for the lead a point ahead of Brian Mahany. Over Beechers the scores remained the same with G.Henry recording a birdie and a par, D.Henry a birdie and a double bogey and Mahany two pars. G.Henry parred the Lowlands to take a one point lead over D./Henry (bogey) with Mahany (bogey) a further point back. G.Henry birdied the last to win by two points from D.Henry (par) and Mahany (birdie). Second place went to Mahany with a better back three.
In Division 2 Graham Murray set the early pace, opening with three pars and a birdie to lead by two points from Kevin Duffin (two pars, double bogey, birdie) and Patrick Reid (four pars) with Aidan Donnelly (double bogey, bogey, par, birdie) another point behind. Up the Grove , Donnelly after a run of three pars joined Murray who ran into bogey trouble. Duffin was a point behind followed by Reid a further point down. Duffin finished bogey, birdie to win by one point from Donnelly (double bogey, par). Two points further back came Reid (double bogey, par) and Murray (two double bogeys).
Approaching The Niuc in Division 3 Cyril Reid and Ashley Doole were leading by two points from Clifford Irvine. Through Broadmeadows Reid after a run of bogey, par, bogey had moved into a one point lead from Doole (par, bogey, bogey) with Irvine (two pars and a bogey) a further two points behind. In a close finish Irvine upped his game over the closing three holes and came home par, birdie, birdie where he was joined by Reid who finished par, double bogey, par. First place was taken by Irvine with a better last six. Doole (bogey, par, par)was a point bebind the placings.
Division 1 – 1st. Gary Henry 24 pts – 2nd. Brian Mahany 22 pts (BB3)
Division 2 – 1st. Kevin Duffin 25 pts – 2nd. Aidan Donnelly 24 pts
Division 3 – 1st. Clifford Irvine 26 pts (BL6) – 2nd. Cyril Reid 26 pts
Gross – Joshua Hill 21 g/pts
Alt 9 Gross – Vincent Miskelly 21 g/pts.
