Doyle Shipping Group were the sponsors of the Stableford competition held at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
Through halfway twelve handicapper Tony Carroll was one point ahead of David Brown (15). Ricki Simpson (10) was another point behind with Conor McAuley (22) (‘ding’ at eight) and John McClintock (14) a further point down. John McCarley (13) was another three points back. Through The Maple Carroll had increased his lead to two points from Brown. Simpson, McClintock and McAuley were also two points behind the leader with McCarley a further three points behind. Approaching the Lowlands Carroll was still leading but McAuley had reduced his lead to one point. Another point behind came Brown and McClintock with Simpson (‘ding’ at the Grove) and McCarley a further three points back. Conor McAuley came home bogey, par to win Overall by one point from Brown (bogey, par) in the Overall Runner-Up position. Carroll ran into bogey trouble over the closing two holes to finish double bogey, bogey but held on to win Division 2 by one point from John McClintock (double bogey, par). Simpson (bogey, par) and McCarley (birdie, bogey) finished together a further point behind. Third place went to McCarley with a better back nine.
In Division 1 at the turn Ryan Addley (8) was two points ahead of Hugh McKeague (8). Two points behind McKeague were Joshua Hill (4) and Colin Steele (5) followed by Colin Kinghan (5) and Paul Houston (5) a further point behind. Alan Moore (6) was another point down. Addley’s lead was reduced to one point through The Grove by Hill with Kinghan, Steele and McKeague another point behind. A further point back came Houston and Moore. With two to play Addley had fallen back after a ‘ding’ at fourteen. Hill and Kinghan were the new leaders by two points from Steele, McKeague and Addley. Houston (‘ding’ at fourteen) and Moore were a further point behind. In a close and exciting finish Kinghan who was leading by a point after a par at the penultimate hole ‘dinged’ the last. Hill took advantage of this mishap with a two par finish to win by one point from Kinghan and Steele (two pars) who finished together and with a better back nine second place went to Kinghan with Steele third. Another point behind came Alan Moore (two pars), Paul Houston (two pars), McKeague (bogey, par) and Addley (par, bogey).
After the front nine in Division 3 Gerard Lynn (18) was leading by one point from Emil Wylie (17), Colin Thompson (18) and Gordon Allen (18). James McClintock (17) was another two points behind. At thirteen Lynn was joined by Wylie and Thompson with Allen a point behind. McClintock was another four points back at this stage. A bogey and two pars enabled Wylie to take a two point advantage over Thompson with two to play. Allen was another point behind with McClintock and Lynn a further point away. Wylie with a double bogey, birdie finish won by three points from Thompson (double bogey, par). Allen (two bogeys), McClintock (bogey, par) and Lynn (bogey, par) finished together and third place was taken by James McClintock with a better back nine.
Robin Deane (20) and Hugh Mussen (26) were vying for the lead a point ahead of Noel McAlynn (20) and Ralph Clarke (26) entering the back nine in Division 4. Colin Orr (21) was another point behind. With the help of two pars over the next four holes Orr had taken a two point lead over Deane and McAlynn. Clarke (‘ding’ at the Fort) and Mussen (‘ding’ at eleven) were one and two points respectively further behinjd. Up the Grove Orr had increased his lead to three points from Deane with McAlynn another point behind after a ‘ding’ at the Grove. Clarke (another ‘ding’ at Beechers) and Mussen were a further point down. Orr hit bogey trouble over the closing two holes but with a bogey, double bogey finish won by two points from Deane (two bogeys) and McAlynn (double bogey, par). McAlynn won the Seniors with a better back nine and Deane took second place in Division 4. Clarke (double bogey, par) and Mussen (par, double bogey) were another point behind and third place went to Clarke with a better back nine.
