The weather remained dry and sunny for the April Medal played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
At halfway Derrick McClelland (15) was two shots ahead of Lewis Surgenor (16) and Trevor Fletcher (16) with Terence Martin (15) a further shot behind. Over the next three holes Fletcher was gradually catching up on McClelland and after a par at the Maple moved into a one shot lead from McClelland. Surgenor and Martin were one and two shots respectively further back. Up the Grove Fletcher continued to lead by one shot from an improving Martin with Surgenor another shot behind. McClelland was falling back and was a further two shots down. Fletcher finished with a par and a triple bogey and was joined by Terence Martin with two bogeys. Martin with a better back nine was the Overall Winner with Fletcher in the Runner-up position. Surgenor (double bogey, par) was another shot behind and won Division 2 with McClelland (two bogeys) a further two shots away taking second place.
There was a very close finish to Division 1 when four players came home with the same score. At halfway Stephen Logan (7) was a shot ahead of Michael Brown (10) and John Rainey (8). Willie Park (10) was a further two shots behind. Logan, Brown and Rainey were level threough thirteen – sixteen with Park still trailing by a shot. Park joined the three leaders down through the Lowlands making for an exciting finish. All four players parred the last to remain level and so to countback. First place went to Park with a better back nine with Brown taking second place with a better back six.
In Division 3 at the turn Colin Black (18) had taken a three shot lead over James McKay (27) and Gareth Marcus (17) followed by Alan Proctor (17) three shots further back. Approaching the seventeenth tee Black was two shots ahead of McKay who in turn was one and three shots clear of Marcus and Proctor respectively. Black double bogeyed The Lowlands and was overtaken by McKay with a par to lead by one shot. Marcus (bogey) was two shotd further behind followed by Proctor (par) another shot away. McKay finished with a bogey and held on to win by one shot from Black (bogey) in second place. Marcus (par) and Proctor (birdie) were another shot behind.
The Gross was won by Owen Smith (3).

Michael Brown (10) 67 (BB6) – Division 2 – 1st. Lewis Surgenor (16) 65 – 2nd. Derrick McClelland (15) 67 – Division 3 – 1st. James McKay (27) 65 – 2nd.Colin Black 18) 66 – Gross – Owen Smith (3) 71.

Turning for home Brian McFall (25) had opened up a comfortable five point advantage over Ivan McCappin (22) with Ian Stewart (20) and Malcolm Sharpe (21) another point behind. McFall continued and came home five points clear of Stewart in second place. McCappin and Sharpe finished one point behind the placings.
There were two twos – Philip Magill and George Irwin.
